Purpose of VAPT
VAPT was designed for teaching financial statement analysis and corporate valuation, mostly at the graduate level. It has evolved into a versatile tool that can assist practitioners, professional analysts and senior management to forecast financial statements and to assess the fundamental value of businesses. Senior executives, directors, members of the audit committee and of the board of directors will find VAPT useful to check the validity of numbers submitted for their approval. Investors will find in VAPT a powerful tool to check their intuition and brokers' recommendations.
Description
VAPT consists of a series of integrated spreadsheets in MS Excel® that perform financial analysis, generate pro-forma financial statements and estimate fair value of equity, debt, and total assets. The following features distinguish VAPT from other valuation software:
- VAPT checks the consistency of values based on cash flows and on residual earnings;
- VAPT computes values for equity, debt and total assets independently, and checks the consistency of a market based balance sheet;
- analysis are based on restated figures according to the Advanced Dupont approach;
- error checks throughout increase the model's reliability; diagnostic checks help verify when steady-state is reached;
- a variety of graphs and reports makes it easy to detect material discontinuities between historical and projected statements;
- the durations of both the historical period and of the short-term horizon are defined by the user;
- VAPT recovers easily should a breakdown occur in the iterative solution procedure for simultaneous equations.
